“A Child’s Dream” Rehearsals Practice, Practice, Practice! Many boys and girls, Carla Parker, dancers, and JA members are very busy rehearsing for the performance of “A Child’s Dream” an Adaptation of the Nutcracker. Remember this performance is scheduled at the BPAC on Friday, December 11 at 7:00pm for the public with tickets. To promote the performance, JA members and some of the characters will be available during the Holiday Merchants Open House on Sunday, November 8 from1-4 pm at the Gazebo. Tickets to the 7pm performance will be available for purchase. So, bring the family and meet the characters, purchase some tickets, and have some cookies and milk.

Kids Fun Run 67 Children 4K through 6th grade ran the downtown walking trail during “Octoberfest” on Saturday, October 10. While the weather was not the greatest, the event was a success. Each child was a “winner” with Daylen Bastari the winner of the ipod and gift card. We appreciate the family and community participation in this event.

Character Counts Week During the week of October 19-23, JA members invited individuals from the community into four elementary schools (Bell, Cypress Park, Parks, Pearman) to teach approximately 200 4th grade boys and girls about the six pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship). Following several days of talking about the characters, the children from each school participated in a balloon release to show the rest of the community that “Character Counts”.

Kids Care IDs So far, JA members have helped teachers and staff in the Cleveland School District gather identification information on approximately 180 children for overnight school trips. This project will continue as we have been asked to assist with identification gathering for approximately another 180 boys and girls in January. We appreciate the school district providing this opportunity for us to keep our kids safe.

Special Education We had a fun and spooky time with the special education children at the JA Halloween Carnival. Games, activities, and eating were enjoyed by all the children, while JA members cheered them on and gave “goodie” treats.
