Hello! You have received the first of our monthly email blast. We hope this will be a communication avenue to keep you informed of the exciting projects and events that the Cleveland Junior Auxiliary (JA) is involved in each month.
Stuff the Bus
In an effort to meet the “back to school needs” of our mentoring children in the Cleveland School District, the JA Crown Club collected school supplies in the Wal-Mart parking lot that were donated by individuals from the community. These generous efforts resulted in the collection of school supplies for 8 mentoring children.
Back to School Pool Party To begin the new school year, a “back to school” pool party was provided for the mentoring children. This activity gave the JA members and the children an opportunity to interact and share lots of fun, laughs, and food before the kids had to begin studying hard and learning new things.

Saturdays in the Park The mentoring children and JA members are having lots of fun in the different parks around the city of Cleveland. The mentoring children are able to participate in various sports and learn about topics such as sportsmanship and pet grooming. This is a great way for the children to exercise and learn in the great “outdoors”. Many thanks to those from Delta State and the community who provide this opportunity to our children.
Foster Care Receives Name Change We are very excited that Foster Care has received a new name, Junior Auxiliary Mentoring (JAM). The JA members believe this new name reflects more the purpose and goals of the project which are to provide support and encouragement to the children. So one day, these boys and girls will be educated and engaged individuals in our community.
“A Child’s Dream” Auditions The Junior Auxiliary along with Carla Parker held auditions for the upcoming performance of “A Child’s Dream” an Adaptation of the Nutcracker. We had an overwhelming response from the children and parents in the community. So, over the next several months these boys and girls, Carla Parker and dancers, JA members, and others in the community will be preparing for an outstanding performance at the BPAC on Friday, December 11 at 7:00pm for the public with tickets. So mark it on your calendar and purchase your tickets. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Special Education We participated in several activities with our special needs children. We had a great time at a “back to school bowling party” where the kids got to have fun knocking down some pins, if not getting some strikes, and then eating pizza. “Going Bananas” was our theme for an activity we did in several Cleveland schools to help these children learn a few facts and nutrition about bananas. The part of the activity that they really enjoyed was making and eating their own banana splits.

Upcoming Events in October “Look for us” in the community as we participate in the following projects during the month of October.
Kids Care IDs – We will be at several of the schools in the Cleveland School District helping teachers and staff prepare for children to go on overnight school trips.
Kids Fun Run – This event is scheduled for children from 4K through 6th grade on Saturday, October 10 with check-in at 8:30am and first run at 9:00am. Parents get your children registered for this event.
Character Counts Week – During the week of October 19-23, we will be in several elementary schools in the Cleveland School District to help 4th grade boys and girls learn about the six pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship).
